((Do you have an idea about who's going to be Lord Holder? I was thinking that maybe Darren could get the job, which would make Lia fall even more for him because she's kinda prissy like that, and then Ria could spend her days teaching Andred how to live like a regular person. These are just my thoughts, I felt like posting something...))

(Yes, it is more likely that Darren will get the job, especially since the meeting is starting now and Andred is out cold sleeping on his bed. Also, Ria will need to go over to Daliath Weyr to help take care of any injured dragons and, of course, if Andred didn't get the job no one would be upset if he went along with Ria on the trip. But nothing will happen if a certain someone doesn't post.)

( Bleh... *shoots Darren for not leaving Lia alone* )

"Better be sorry," Whispered Ria in a soft voice very unlike her normal tone. She didn't really know who to be angry with, Andred for passing up like he did or herself for letting him have a second drink in less than ten minutes. Today was suposed to have been fun with her leading the young man around the Hold and getting to know him better. It was the least he could give her after being so darn sneaky the other day. Though now that she thought about, Ria couldn't tell if she was actually mad at him for that either. Shaking her head, the woman leaned down long enough to brush a few stray locks of hair from Andred's handsome face before moving to follow Meryn out the door.

Peering from under the blanket, which now encircled the girl like a hood and cloak, Lia bit her lip and sniffled a little. She had no idea what Darren meant, she'd only seen Andred once that day and it was when they'd run into him and her sister. Just the thought of her twin sent the girl's eyes back into their water works only this time without the sound effects.
"No I haven't seen him so you'd better just run along now Darren," called Lia from upon her bed. Wishing he would listen for once, she felt so awkward having a man looking into the room. It wasn't dirty or messy to say the least but for a perfectionist like Lia, the place was in utter chaos. There were a pair shoes not sitting in their place for goodness sake!

Andred didn't notice Riamine and Meryn leave from where he lay, sleeping quietly on his bed and on the ground beside his bed, that fateful packet remained unopened.

"Alright, Lia." Darren cheerfully allowed himself to be lead away, fulfilling the request of the pitiful young woman on the bed, "Hope you're feeling better soon- Wish me luck at the meeting!" And with that, Darren retreated from the open door and, optimistic, chattery smile and all, alongside an unsurprisingly somber Darius.
Walking down the hallway, the pair passed Riamine and Meryn as they made their way to the Lord Holder's quarters and the adjoining conference rooms.

(Ho hum. I think I might out the meeting in a separate thread just to keep things from getting to cluttered. Also, do they recognize 'week' as a measurement of time on Pern? I certainly don't know. And then there's poor little Andred. He only got one sentence cuz he's asleep.)

The door opened, revealing the meeting that had already started within, but Darren turned back. "Tell them I'll be there in just a moment Darius." He called over his shoulder as he headed in Ria and Meryn's direction.
Speeding up a little, it didn't take Darren long to catch up with the pair, "Good evening, ladies!" He greeted them. His voice laced with the usual obnoxious cheer and goodwill towards mankind but there was also something more serious beneath his charming tone, "Ria, I was wondering if you know where Andred is- you see, the council is meeting about the Lord Holder and it would certainly help his case if he were to attend. Darius said he gave Andred the packet about the meeting this morning but he still hasn't shown up so if you either tell me where to find him or maybe remind him of the meeting that would be extraordinarily helpful." Darren took half a pause after his rambling statement to give the two women one of his winning grins and add, "And you're looking lovely today Meryn. That flour is quite the fashion statement!"

Ria was in a bind and she knew it. There were two choices open for her and neither looked perfect. First she could pull this Darren character off to the side and lie to him, say she didn't know where Andred was. That way he'd be sure to loose the Lord Holder position and she'd get a bitter sweet victory. Or second, she could tell him the truth and hope things worked themselves out. Never one to think this much before her actions, Riamine crossed her arms and proceeded to give her answer.
"Andred is not well at the moment, he's sleeping and should not be disturbed. I'll have my sister go and check on him but as a Healer myself I must ask that you leave him be and go on with this meeting of yours without Andred." Ria gave her report in a rather pushy tone, making sure to complete it with a harsh glare. Hardly anyone dared go against the young woman's word for fear of retaliation of the painful sort.

"Okay then." Darren replied, his usual bouncy cheer fading slightly, "Well, I hope he feels better soon. See you around Meryn, Ria!" And with that, Darren returned to the meeting where Darius was already glaring daggers at his chattery head.

(Yes, I know. Very anti-climatic. Short. Not much to respond to. That would be because there's going to be a new thread starting up for Daliath Hold which will cover both the meeting and the aftermath of the council's decision.)
